Stop Telling Yourself “I’m Too Busy”

I’m so busy, I can’t even think about taking a break - let alone do some planning or business growth activities.

I’m so buried in work; I just try to churn out what my clients need and meet all their deadlines.

Is this you? Do you have these moments or is it a constant feeling?

What would you say if I told you that there is a way round this?

The key word in this game is PRIORITIES.

If you feel like you are too busy all the time (meeting your clients’ needs) then you’re putting their priorities first.

That is what actually feeds the feeling (aka monster) of ‘I’m too busy’. And it promotes a reactive way of doing business. You respond to every message at any time, no matter what you’re doing. Maybe you don’t do it immediately, but you do it just after you finish an ongoing task.

So, you get caught up in this servant like manner of doing business that you eventually forget about your business plans and goals. Or you might say that you’re ‘too busy’ to focus on that at the moment.

If you allow other people and their priorities to run your days - you'll never build the business that you want. They will dictate the business and life you have.

This kind of attitude and behaviour of ‘I’m too busy’ will lead to you being at a standstill in your business or eventually lead to your business going backwards.

Why? Well, when you focus on being too busy, you don’t focus on strategy.

You have to strategise (and do it regularly) to be able to move your business forward.

So, coming back to our key word: priorities.

We all have the same number of hours in a day. It’s just that some people use their time well, others don't. Don’t be the person stuck in that second category. Time is a choice. So, choose wisely.

Make your business strategy your top priority. If this means scheduling some time in your calendar every week, then do so. If it means going out of the office and making yourself unreachable for several hours every week, then let it be so.

Your business strategy time is your sacred time, and it’s up to you to lead the strategy and direction of your business. No-one else is going to do it.

When you start practising strategy time every week, you will immediately see the difference. New horizons will open. You will gain so much more clarity, and even more so, you’ll be able to see what you can delegate to free up some of your time. The benefits are really endless.

You’ll get your balance back. You’ll feel like you have more time because all aspects of your business will be taken care of.

So, start focusing on your strategy right now rather than leaving it for a time when you won’t be ‘so busy’.
