How You Turn Up Today Builds Your Life Of Tomorrow

How do you turn up each and every day and engage with the wins and engage with the hardships that come at you?

If you’re like most - you get excited and celebrate when you have a win or when something comes off that you have been working hard towards. Most people I know celebrate with a bottle of bubbly when they buy a new house or get a promotion at work or bring on a whole bunch of new clients.

If you do celebrate the wins and the exciting things that happen to you - good on you! You absolutely should be!

Now, please be honest when you answer this next question - how do you turn up when things aren’t going your way? How do you turn up when things are going pear-shaped and you have money or cash flow issues, a business or a team that isn’t performing like it used to, a relationship in crisis or you’re at the point of burn out because you’re taking on too much?

Most people, unfortunately, dig their head in the sand and pretend it isn’t happening to them or move into the victim and deflect the issue or responsibility onto someone else.

However in order to be the leader you need to be to both yourself and the people around you - you need to be willing to do the things necessary to move through this issue or challenge that most people hide or shy away from.

In order to stand up and to learn and grow from the experience - you need to be willing to do what most won’t - which is to lean into the problem, issue or crisis and meet it head-on.

How we turn up every day (and I mean every day), how we embrace and lean into the problems, challenges and the ‘not-so-rosy’ aspects of life and the energy and the mindset with which we approach these experiences - starts to rewire old beliefs and hardwire new beliefs in the brain.

By standing up and not hiding, you are literally rewiring old beliefs such as:

  • “Life is hard”
  • “I don’t have what it takes to do this”
  • “I’m not the person everyone thinks I am”
  • “I’m not good enough to face this”

With:

  • “That was hard, but now that I’ve faced it - it wasn’t as bad as I thought”
  • “I’m resilient and can work through anything”
  • “I believe in myself to face anything life sends my way”

No one is born with the skills to deal with adversity and to deal with crisis and to deal with the challenges that come with living a fully charged life - these skills are learnt and the only way to learn, develop and hone these skills is by getting in and doing.

To quote Robin Sharma:

“In order to live a life that only 5% of the population live, you need to be willing to do what only 5% of the population is willing to do”.

I know facing it will be difficult, I know it will be confronting and I know it won’t be the ‘easy path’, but the strength and the growth that comes from leaning into life’s hardships and dealing with them head-on is invaluable and builds your life of tomorrow.
